  1. Thank you so much for sharing with us. This is a valuable skill to have
a very good one. Blessings !

  2. Please get the skeleton Gopro housing if you are going to do helmet cam
with audio. The trapped in a closet sound from the waterproof one is very
    disconcerting to the viewer.

    1. I don’t hear any problems with the audio. Certainly doesn’t sound like
      they’re using the waterproof housing.

  3. Good stuff! I really need to make some time to play around with our native
    palms. Thanks for sharing!

  4. you know I liked the older videos, I think they were better, with Rob at
least I think his name was rob

    1. Yeah robs a pro at it. There’s more to it than meets the eye. I’ll work on
it promise. There’s nothin I can do bout my ugly mug though haha

  5. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge. Too bad we don’t have palms
here in Norway… we do have other plants that can work though 🙂

  6. if you had an old ringer washer that would help speed things up a bit. the
more back and forth though the rollers. the more processing is done. and if
you can find rolling pins maybe dowels and bearings that fit the dowels
ends. just turn the outside ends down on each dowel so they close up
together… you can make a roller press to do the same with. you need to
build a frame, find some compression springs, threaded rod and long winged
wing nuts to make the press. you’ll wind the nuts down to press with more
    and more force.

  7. Thank you for sharing these much needed skills specific to Florida. I will
be watching the class schedule and am excited for the opportunity to learn
    these old world skills.

  8. I’ve found that it is worth your time to carve a flat wedge from a piece of
wood, and then use that wedge to scrape along the length of the stem. So
you beat it only a little to free up the strands, and then you can scrape
the green off it. This way you end up with more long, strong, un-broken
    fibers.

  9. Nice vid, Joel. Would really like to see other video about the abundant
amount of palms we have here in FL. For instant, making swamp cabbage,
shelter building, etc. Thanks again, you gained a new subscriber.

  10. Saw palmetto is the official Florida survival plant I use it for so many
    applications!
